How long does a session last?A typical 'therapy hour' is 50-55 minutes. Some therapies may require a 90 minute session.
-
What will my first session look like?Your first therapy session is typically an opportunity for you and me to get to know each other. We will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and any concerns you may have. I may ask about your personal history, current challenges, and explore how therapy can best support you. It's a chance to establish a comfortable rapport, discuss the therapeutic process, and address any questions you may have. Remember, it's a collaborative and confidential space designed to set the foundation for your therapeutic journey!
-
What types of therapy modalities do you use?I use a blend of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), somatic-informed, and polyvagal-informed approaches. These methods are all trauma-informed and support the body and nervous system in healing, not just the mind. Many of the approaches I use are considered body-based or bottom-up, which means they focus on how experiences, especially stress and trauma and how they are held in the body and nervous system. Rather than relying only on talking or thinking through challenges, these methods support emotional processing and regulation by working directly with the body’s responses. This can help create lasting change, even when experiences feel hard to put into words.
-
How will therapy help me?Therapy offers a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions. Therapy can provide valuable insights, coping strategies, and tools to help you navigate challenges, improve self-awareness, and foster positive changes in your life. It's a collaborative process that empowers you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, build resilience, and work towards personal growth and well-being
